Volunteer Waiver Form: What Is It?

A volunteer waiver form is used by non-profit organizations or charities that use volunteers in their work. These waivers will protect the organization in case a volunteer is injured or suffers any kind of damage or loss while volunteering. Waivers will typically be available for both adults over the age of 18 as well as for minors that want to volunteer with the permission of their parent or guardian.

These forms are required to be completed before someone can volunteer for an organization. Typically, the form only requires some basic information about the volunteer, such as their name, date of birth, and date they will begin volunteering. Minors will need to have a parent or guardian provide their information as well. This form must be signed and dated before it is given to the organization in order to be legally binding. Most waivers last for one year, and then a new waiver form must be completed.
