The grievance policy must be in place to ensure that someone can get their complaint addressed by the right parties. The process will usually start with some kind of formal written complaint. This complaint can then be sent to the correct party. This will vary depending on the company or organization. It may be something like a customer service department or human resources center. From there, the policy can detail the next party, which may be a union representative.
